Middletown came alive with the sites and sounds of four-wheel fever as throngs of car aficionados packed Main Street from Washington down to the South Green to ogle and appreciate the many hot rods and custom cars that packed the center of town.

There was something for everyone on Wednesday, June 11, at the 17th Annual Cruise Night on Main, co-sponsored by the city of Middletown and the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. The vast array of trucks, muscle cars, antiques, domestics, imports and rat rods numbered more than 550 and vehicle owners gladly answered questions and discussed the loving restorations made to their prized possessions. Though Mother Nature was determined to put a damper on Cromwell’s Second Annual Memorial Day Car Show on Friday, May 30th, she graciously held the rain in check long enough for hundreds of visitors to pack the historic Main Street. They enjoyed the beauty of the classic vehicles, the offerings of the shops and restaurants and two special presentations made to World War II Navy veteran Sal Rosano. Continue reading

The fifth annual “Sunday Royals Garage Car Show” is Sunday, May 25th, on Sam Posey Straight at Lime Rock Park. Jeff Gordon’s AARP “Drive to End Hunger” campaign is this year’s charity.

‘Spike’s Ride for Sandy Hook’ Returns To Lime Rock Park

Lime Rock Park is again encouraging everyone within “listening” distance to show support for “Spike’s Ride for Sandy Hook,” the huge car-truck-and-bike show, as the second annual fundraising gathering is set for Saturday, May 3rd at Connecticut’s famous Northwest Corner motorsports facility. Proceeds benefit the Newtown Police Union and the Rotary Club Sandy Hook Fund. Continue reading

A 1912 Ford Model T Speedster, a 1932 Ford Three-Window Coupe, a 1956 Pontiac Starchief, a 1967 Jaguar E-Type, a 1978 VW Riviera Camper Bus and a 2012 Ford Mustang were among the more than 650 vehicles covering a century of motoring at the 16th edition of Middletown’s Cruising on Main on June 12th. Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, CT – The Fourth Annual Sunday Royals’ Garage Car Show to Benefit the Wounded Warrior Project saw an astounding variety of cars and trucks parked proudly on Sam Posey Straight. The show is gaining a reputation for drawing a uniquely eclectic blend of cars.

There was everything from a Dallara-Opel Formula 3 car to a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz droptop, Mustangs, Corvettes, Ferrari-flavored Miatas and Bob Sharp’s IMSA GTU championship-winning 1975 Datsun 260Z. Bugs of all sorts rubbed shoulders with a stellar Stutz, a race-prepped 1950 Olds Rocket 88, a Superbird, a super Riviera and Rambler Marlins. Continue reading
