Wheels and fire joined forces on a cool fall Sunday at Enfield Fire District No. 1, on Weymouth Road, for a fundraiser to benefit the town’s Fire Association and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. “We’ve held pancake breakfasts as fundraisers, but wanted to try something different,” according to Firefighter Steve Smith, Vice President of the Enfield Fire Association. “We had a meeting and decided we should try holding a car show. A friend knew someone in the High Life Creationz car club and it all worked out from there. Continue reading
To steal a line from TNA wrestling superstar Kurt Angle, Sunday’s Dreamz II Reality Reality Season Finale in Chicopee, MA was real. It was damn real.
More than 125 vehicles packed into the Porter and Chester campus on a rapidly warming fall morning. Their owners spent hours shining them up, ready to battle for a boatload of beautiful trophies. Dave and I were there, vending the range of one-of-a-kind, innovative Cruisin’ Photography products. And to take photographs and have a good time, of course! Continue reading
Is one car show on a beautiful Sunday enough? Maybe for some people, but certainly not for Dave and me! After enjoying the Oldsmobiles in Berlin on September 11th, we headed south to Branford for the CT Xtremes Car Show at Porter and Chester.
As we drew close on Route 1, we heard the show before we saw it. And when we saw it, the Monster Truck perched atop its two “victims” first caught our eye, followed by the sheer volume and quality of the vehicles that filled two parking lots. Continue reading
Saturday evening, Dave and I made the hour drive from the Elite Dream Machines Car Show at Mohegan Sun to New Haven, for a benefit cruise night/car wash, hosted by the Hard Hittin’ Lowz Car Club, in memory of Detective Rafael Segarra. Segarra was 44 when he died. He had diabetes and was in need of a kidney and liver transplant. He was unable to find a donor, caught pneumonia and passed away. The 18-year member of the New Haven Police Department earned four commendations during his career. All proceeds from the event were donated to Officer Segarra’s loving family. Continue reading
Cruisin’ Photography was on the road again on Saturday, May 28th. Dave and I took an evening drive to Waterbury, CT, for the first annual Low-N-Furious cruise night at Tony’s Tires and Wheels. We hadn’t been there very long before Albert and Santos from Leather & Sound turned up in their Hondas. After exchanging greetings with the guys, we saw the friendly face of our friend, Juanito, the owner of the superb “Scarface” Toyota. Juanito was on DJ duty for the evening.
A good-sized number of vehicles were already parked and being polished to perfection. The always-memorable Vanformer was there, this time in the hands of the always-memorable Todd Vaillancourt. Vanformer won the Best of Show trophy. Continue reading
The High Life Creationz club staged its first cruise night at Mobile Electronics, in Wallingford, and, needless to say, Dave and I took a trip there to show some support for the HLC crew.
Dreamz II Reality president Jerry Zayas brought his unforgettable Hyundai, while First Lady Maria Zayas arrived in her Volkswagen GTI. Albert Caquias and Santos Negron represented Leather and Sound, and each took home a trophy at the end of the night. I’m sure the Cruisin’ Photography Digital Auto Art Albert had on display in his windshield caught the judges’ eye. It was also good to see Sam Rivera and his beautiful white BMW. Sam and his son and daughter gladly posed for a few photos for Dave and me. Continue reading
