Bathed in glorious spring sunshine, the Summer Knights 22nd Annual Benefit Car Show and Swap Meet attracted thousands of spectators and hundreds of classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars, vintage cars and customs on Sunday at the Berlin Fair Grounds. “We’ve got great weather, and it’s a great day for a great cause,” a smiling Summer Knights president John Jarush said. “We were at about 500 cars at 10:45 am, and cars were still lined up and rolling in for registration. Beckley Road in Berlin was the place to be as more than 1,600 car enthusiasts spent a sunny and breezy spring Sunday viewing close to 400 show cars and a couple of fire trucks at the 21st Annual Summer Knights Benefit Show Shine and 4th Annual Swap Meet at the Berlin Fair Grounds. “Proceeds from this show have helped many children in the area, their families and other charities,” according to Summer Knights president John Jarush. The Summer Knights Car Club staged its 20th anniversary Show and Shine car show over Memorial Day weekend. In addition to the car show, the club also held its third annual Swap Meet on days. Besides the great show cars and swap meet, there were food, raffles, New England Antique Racers, a vintage ice cream truck, and, as in previous years, some unique trophies.
“Proceeds from the show have helped many children in the area, their families and other charities. This year we’re proud to say that our benefit recipient is five-year-old Jonathan Silva of Berlin. On January 6th, Jonathan was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome – a very rare autoimmune disease that attacks the nervous system.
